28 Little Known Facts About a Promise Ring

28 Little Known Facts About a Promise Ring

The meaning of a promise ring can be one of three things: a pre-engagement ring, friendship ring or purity ring. However, a promise ring is more commonly associated with the former.

How are these three different?

A pre-engagement ring is given to a romantic partner. It symbolizes commitment and exclusivity. Others regard it as a precursor to an engagement ring; however, instead of the merely woman receiving the ring, a pre-engagement ring may be received and worn by both couples.

Another difference between the pre-engagement ring and engagement ring is the finger where you wear it. The latter is worn in the left ring finger while the former may be worn anywhere. It can even be worn as a pendant. After marriage, it may be transferred to the right ring finger.

A friendship ring, as the name suggests, is a ring given by friends to friends. It may mean commitment between friends but not necessarily exclusivity.

Lastly, a purity ring is used by a church back then to encourage their female members to be committed to keeping their virginity until marriage. Others call it a chastity ring. In some cultures, it can be a ring between couples who are committed to abstain until after the wedding ceremony.

Now that we have established the meaning of a promise ring, let’s get to know it some more.

How To Get Ring Size

If you don’t know the ring size, follow these instructions:

First, get a non-stretch string or a strip of paper. Just make sure that it can fit the finger snugly.

Second, wrap the string or paper around the finger then mark it where it overlaps.

Third, straighten out the strip of paper then measure the tip to the marked section with a ruler or tape measure. You can use either the metric or the imperial system then send it to us.
